My purse meme

So since I've been tagged by Kelly AND Shandi, I thought I'd finally get my act together and do it!

1) Take a photo of your handbag/purse.
2) List what's in it (no leaving anything out!)

Sounds easy enough.....

Here's my purse:

I've had this purse since my 17th birthday...the buttons on it read "Masters Favourite Little Pet" and "Nobody Knows I'm Bi".

Inside includes:

- PlayersLight King size (25 pack) pack of cigarettes with one native smoke in it.
- Cell phone
- My digital voice recorder (I use for recording lectures) that doubles as an Mp3 player.
- Earbuds, of course.
- Black gel pen.
- 2 Algonquin appointment cards
- blank piece of paper with my bank account numbers on it.
- my bus pass package - it includes my health card, SIN card, bank card, March/April/May bus passes, my College student card, my Student Identity card for the bus and 2 sheets of bus tickets. Whew! That's alot!
- Temporary OAC (aka the gym) Membership Card for the weekend.
- Camera lense cover
-Random bits of paper and receipts.
-"Shiny-licious" berry lip gloss.
- 2 bobbypins
- 4.31$ in change

And usually my keys are in there too but I hang them up right when I get in the door.

Wow! I didn't realize how much stuff I had in my purse.....although that purse is deceptively big - I can fit a 26er (750mL) bottle of vodka in there or a full carton of smokes. lol.

fridayfive #3

It's time for the fridayfive!

What piece of information do you keep forgetting? The In-Law's phone number.
What regular event in your life do you keep forgetting? How to poop. Uh huh. (who comes up with these questions. Seriously.)
How are you with remembering the names of people you meet? Pretty good, but it helps to have a description or a nickname to go by if I've only met them a couple times.
What kinds of tricks to you have for remembering to do stuff that falls outside your regular routine? I don't have any tricks; I'm pretty good at remembering (I "forget" on purpose. It's a bad habit. Oops).
If you keep a daily planner, what is it like? If you don’t, why not? I don't, because I'm just lazy like that.

Did anyone watch "So You Think You Can Dance" auditions last night? They covered Utah & Dallas. I made the boys miss their hockey game so I could watch it (oh the horror...but really, it was only the Penguins vs. Red Wings, game 3). I loved the Utah auditions - one guy wore a t-shirt that said "Joseph Smith is my homeboy". I laughed when I saw that one. There was also a guy with Down's trying out - he didn't make it but seriously? He put a great big smile on my face and I would go dancing in a club with him any day. Except I'd ask him to tone down on the kicking. Just a bit.

Last night was funny at the dinner table. K's mom finally realized (after nearly 2 months of living with them!) that I have 6 facial piercings. She thought I only had my ears and eyebrow instead of nose, eyebrow, Monroe, tongue and ears. We were watching "So You Think..." and she made a comment on one of the contestants piercing - then she remarked that the worst ones are "the ones that go through the tongue" ...

Imagine her surprise when I replied by sticking out my tongue and asking "like this one?" :D lol. As for my other piercings, she thought my Monroe (between lip and nose, on my right side) was a mole (uh, it's a blue jewel. has anyone ever seen a blue mole?). And my nose is so tiny no one realizes I have it unless you really look for it. Her reaction was so funny though - I really enjoyed myself over that one.

Today marks the Official Countdown To K Meeting My Mother (And The Rest Of My Family, Practically).
Yeah, you heard right. I'm taking a boy home! *GASP GASP!* We're heading home in 15 days for a weekend in the good ol' country. It's my (now deceased) Grandma&Grandpa's Annual (as of last year) Euchre Tournament Weekend...basically everyone on the immediate side of my mom's side of the family (aunts, uncles, cousins, cousins kids etc) come to spend some time together for a weekend. A good estimate of the number of attendees is just over 30, if you include us two. I hope K's up to it!! LOL. Although he seems to be busy thinking up ways to freak my mother out - mostly it includes talking to my stomach as if I was pregnant, and acting mentally challenged. I've been told it's keeping him up at night. That boy never fails to crack me up.

And bonus: my mom semi-agreed to drive K & I up to Goderich (about a half hour away, right on the shore of Lake Huron) on Sunday afternoon/evening, so we can walk along the beach and I can just show him more of the gorgeousness that is my "home area". I'm excited to take him home. A little nervous, but mostly excited. (oh, not so bonus: we aren't allowed to sleep in the same bed as each other. boo my mother's traditionalist values...well actually, to be fair, its probably just because she's meeting him for the first time. I hope? Because if I have to wait until engagement/marriage to sleep in the same bed as him at Moms, we sure won't be going there that often).

Oh yeah, and did I mention? We have new pet names for each other - I'm Mrs. Barky Von Schnauzer, and he's Mr. Barky Von Schnauzer. It's best said in the voice you use to talk to the dog with. :P And we were talking about a certain type of jewellery the other day, and I mentioned that I don't want to reach our 1 year anniversary without it (I've known since Month 5 he's wanted to marry me, and the waiting for the "official announcement" is KILLING me). He replied it might take him up to 8 months to save up for a ring, but if that happened then he would get me a "promise ring, but I'm not making any promises"....I immediately started giggling while saying "Isn't the entire point *giggle giggle* of a promise ring *full out laughter* to make a promise?" Like I said before, that guy cracks me up daily. I love that.

I know this is a long post already, but wanna know why I haven't switched the addy over yet? I can't think of one! HA! So that's where you guys come in - I really can't think of any suitable names for this blog. Help, please?

(wanna know what I've been dealing with this month and why I've been so quiet lately? Read on)

I'm so fustrated right now....I'll be very surprised if I don't cry by the end of the day.

Basically, over the last month my OSAP has been delayed while they (read: administration) decide if they want to continue me on in the's been a MONTH. A month with absolutely no income whatsoever - my stress level has been through the roof.

Today I called the Program Coordinator to find out if there was a change in my status (oh? did I mention? I'm registered and attending three courses for the summer) only to find out she's on VACATION FOR THE NEXT WEEK. Gee, thanks for telling me the last time I called. That information isn't important to know or anything :roll eyes:

I did some research and found out that Ontario Works (aka welfare) indeed states on their website that they can help you if your OSAP has been delayed. So today I called. Explained my situation.

Arrrrrgh. I felt like crying when they said they couldn't help me...the only way they could is if I withdrew from school and then applied for straight welfare. Um, no thanks?

In the meantime, I feel SO guilty for being a freeloader while I stay with the In-Laws, Molly NEEDS to get spayed before she goes into her first heat, my bills and credit cards just keep climbing and I'd really like to get going on this weight loss thing. Not to mention my head is just about ready to explode from the stress and the guilt.

If it's one thing I hate, it's being dicked around by administration. I don't think they get HOW FUCKING IMPORTANT this is to me...well, obviously not, it's been a full bloody month.

*sigh* I gotta go; my laptop battery is just about dead. I hope this resolves itself soon...I don't know how much more I can take. Really.

(still) alive.

Hey guys....

Sorry for worrying you all but a) yes I'm alive and b) yes I'm okay. I've just been going through some rough stuff and I didn't feel comfortable talking on it on a blog that creepy ex girl reads so I just didn't write anything at all.

I'll be moving this blog to a different addy very shortly; if you want the address, e-mail me....people who know my e-mail can share it with people who don't, but for obvious reasons I'm not going to post it on here.

That's all I guess.

Pill & Time

Does anyone know anything about switching the time for taking birth control? I'm finding that the time that I chose 4 months ago (7pm) is really inconvenient. Usually I forget and then remember sometime during the night, or else I'm busy/away from home at that time and take them when I get home. I always remember to take them, but never right at 7pm.

So I wanna switch the time, but I don't know how one does this. I'd prefer to do it without having to use a back-up method either, but if that can happen it'll be just icing on the cake (so to speak).

PS: oh, and while we're kinda on the topic of reproduction, I read a few infertility blogs, and, for the life of me, can't figure out what they're referring to when they're using all those acronyms. Is anyone versed in infertility-jargon that can help me out? pretty please?

fridayfive #2

It's time for the fridayfive!

When was the last time you had a needle stuck into you?
That would be early March, when I did my 6 month STI/HIV check. mmmm, blood tests. so juicy.
Who among your friends is the easiest target for needling?
Me. Oh le shame. *hangs head*
What’s something you can confidently do with a needle and thread?
I don't know, how about we go with NOTHING??! (okay okay, in all honestly, I could probably hem a pantleg or sew on a button, but that's it!)
About how many phonograph records do you have in your home, and when’s the last time you dropped a needle on one?
I myself own none. My brother though, woah, owns walls full. Maybe because he's a professional DJ. Just maybe. I'm not confirming anything.
Someone told us the other day about someone at a party using a flavor injector to spike a watermelon with vodka. Is this brilliant or is this stupid?
So THAT'S what we did wrong when we tried to make water-melon vodka. I think it's a brilliant idea! Much better than what we did.

Kelly requested some pictures of Molly yesterday, seeing as she's now 6 (nearly 7!) months old and you guys haven't seen her in a while.. And, since I can't resist showing off my fur-daughter and how smart she is, click on the video. :)

(please excuse the no sheets on my bed, it's laundry day).

Creeped OUT!

I've recently found out that K's ex is reading my blog. This makes me really uncomfortable, and I find I'm censoring myself heavily. I didn't start this blog to be filling out random quizzes about generic topics or 'skimming the surface' of my life. I like having a space that I can come and pour my heart out to, my joys and fears and whatever else. I don't feel I can do that with her reading. So something has to change.

And while I recognize this is a public blog and therefore anyone can read it, the idea of her reading my life - and not just my life, but our life - creeps me right out. I don't want her knowing about anything going on with me, with Keith, in any aspect of my life and our life as a couple. The ex and I aren't friends and I have no intention of changing that. I have no interest in even thinking of pursuing that avenue. We will never be friends. Ever.

So I'm flirting with the idea of taking this blog private. Should I? It seems awfully narcissistic to me, to regard myself as that important. But if its the only way I can get her to stop reading this blog, then so be it.

So. I need your opinions. Private? Or not? How does going private work, exactly? (oh, and if you're a lurker and still want to continue reading, then once I figure out what going private entails you'll be granted access....somehow). Or should I just switch my blog address yet again?

Thanks guys.

16 song shuffle

Bear yourself and tell the world the first 16 songs that appear when you shuffle your iPod/Media player. (From Kamie)

Here are mine:
1. "I'm Just a Girl" - No Doubt
2. "Confessions (Part I)" - Usher
3. "Stupid Boy" - Keith Urban
4. "Truly Madly Deeply" - DJ Eadesy
5. "Stay (I missed you)" - Lisa Loeb
6. "Bleeding Love" - Leona Lewis
7. "I'm Your Lady" - Celine Dion
8. "Pretty Green Eyes" - DJ Hixxy
9. "Comin' Home Baby" - Michael Bublé with Boyz II Men
10. "Back in Baby's Arms" - Patsy Cline
11. "I Believe I Can Fly" - DJ Cammy
12. "Changes" - Tupac Shakur
13. "Sexy Eyes" - DJ Cammy
14. "So Fresh, So Clean" - OutKast
15. "Everything's Just Wonderful" - Lily Allen
16. "Dreaming with a Broken Heart" - John Mayer

Okay, so they're a bit smaller than what I would like to show you, but I'm so sick of fiddling with it that here they are and you're just going to have to deal with it! And I'm sorry for the spacing issue, but, really, see above.
Anyway, this was my destination: Four Seasons Performance Centre. The opera started at 7:30pm. I started here, where that green arrow thing is. And then I walked up that street in the wrong direction, for about 30-40min. Start time: 4:30pm.
After realizing my mistake, I hopped on a subway and, following the (totally inadquate) map my Uncle had sketched me, wound up here. See that orange-y circle? That's the Toronto Eaton Centre. It's beyond huge. I proceeded to get lost quite thoroughly. I stopped at the Info Desk to ask for directions to the Four Seasons Performance Centre. Time: 6:30(ish). They gave me an address of 227 Front Street. One thing to note: every street in Toronto seems to have a West and an East side, and minimal street numberings. So, I walked from the Eaton Centre down to Front Street West until I looked over and saw that the building was 315....ooops, wrong way. Time: 7:30pm. (Cried a few tears at this point; I missed the start of the opera, had been walking for nearly 2 hours straight, and it was COLD and WINDY. Since I hadn't planned on walking for so long, I was only wearing a thin zip up shirt and flipflops).
So whats a girl to do but turn around and walk the other way?
Which is what I did. 227 Front Street EAST happened to be on at the VERY END of the street. Time: 8:45pm.

And, what greeted me at 227 Front Street East?

NOT the Four Seasons Performance Centre. Rather, The Opera Company's actual office.

Broke down completely at this point.....
Feet were killing me, I was so cold I could barely make a fist with my hands, and I had been walking for almost 5 hours straight. I was really disappointed that I had missed the opera as well.
So, I called my mom, because I felt really alone and I just wanted someone to talk to after, oh, I don't know, BEING LOST FOR FIVE HOURS IN THE BIGGEST CITY IN CANADA.
*ahem* sorry, I (still) have (slight) issues.

Anyway, after I was done talking to my mom, I took the subway at Union Station back to my Uncle's place - and they were out celebrating my Uncles birthday.
So I got to sit on their front porch, calling my mom every half hour to tell her what was going on, freezing my ass off, for nearly an hour.
It was fun I tell you, GLORIOUS FUN. (exclaimation point, exclaimation point)

When I finally went to bed that night I curled up tight and didn't stop shivering for a full forty five minutes.

I hate Toronto.

Today, I moved my stuff from one place to another. Yet again ....

this makes it 10 times in 5 years (you would think I like doing it or something).

Anyway, so now I officially live with K.02's parents. It's been....interesting....ya, I think I'll go with that. It's been great though too.

I know you're all waiting with bated breath for the re-cap of my trip-as horrendeous-a while in the Don't worry, I haven't forgotten - I'm working on some maps to show you the full extent of my pain.

So that post is still coming, if you can wait just a wittle bit longer......

fridayfive #1

time for a new weekly meme here at HerSimplicity - this one is called the fridayfive.

1) how do you feel about spicy food?
I hate it. I have the worst milk tongue in the entire world. to illustrate, "mild" salsa is bordering on hot for me. yeah. It's official, I'm a wimp.
2) what kinds of condiments do you add to food in order to spice things up a bit?
mmm, see, I don't. I add salt to everything, garlic to some, mayonnaise most times. those can hardly be qualified as 'spicy' now, can they?
3) Not counting salt and pepper, what’s your favorite flavor enhancer when cooking?
garlic, hands down. or spices like thyme, rosemary, seasoning salt, allspice, etc etc.
4) What’s the spiciest food you’ve ever eaten?
peri peri chicken from Nando's. I think.
5) In what way might some other aspect of your daily life be spiced up, and what’s keeping that from happening right now?
oh, man, what a weird question. um...I'd like to *ahem* have, huh, 'adult relations' with my boy everyday, but uh, you know, life happens. headaches happen. living with his parents happen.

shameless plug

So I started my photography blog today. Head on over and check it out!

(in the future, it's that link above the keith's picture!)

I'll tell you about my horrendous trip back as soon as I can process how truly awful it was. :'(

That, and I need to get dressed. ha.
