mini rant.

Viewings for apartments.

I'm starting to really despise them.

I'm getting sick (just perfect, I go all winter without catching anything, and now, when winter's nearly over, my throat has a particular hollowness to it that makes it really difficult to swallow) ....anyone have any throat lozenges?

I think I'm starting to go crazy with trying to find a place for April 1st, or as close to that as possible. The loose agreement is I do all the legwork, he provides the money. Viewing tomorrow. Crossing fingers it all works out.

Can you cross yours too?

Found something far better than flowers....

Edible Arrangements

You know, I probably wouldn't mind never getting actual flowers from K.02 if he just bought me these all the time instead.

It's fruit. And chocolate. Arranged into a very pretty floral-type way (don't you just love those adorable pineapple daisies?).

Seriously, how could you go wrong?!

Oh YEAH, forgot to mention - daddy phoned the other night and I finally got the chance to tell him about K.02...Dad didn't believe me at all when I said it had been 6 months. And then he kinda grumbled and went "oh great, GRANDCHILDREN." ha. my daddy's a funny guy. *roll eyes*

(Now, please excuse me while I go wipe the drool from my chin).

Just realized....

That on Saturday this boy FINALLY gets to shave that face of scruff off and I get my sexy babyface back again!!!!

It's his playoff beard (superstitious hockey players, they're impossible*roll eyes*). Don't get me wrong, I'm not adverse to it (actually, running my hands along (through?) it while we kiss is quite charming) but oh, when he's clean-shaven.....*impish grin* I'll let you finish the rest of that sentence ;-)

I can't believe I'm so excited over the removal of facial hair. :\ Ha. Let's just say it's been a long month?

Oh dear....

Yes, I'm up at 3:30am. Apparently that's what happens when I go to bed at 8:30....oops. looks like K.02 started a blog of his own. I don't exactly know why - but in any case, it should be interesting to read (at least for me, haha). If you're wondering just who Mrs. Sap is, that would be yours truly. *bows* I was pretty tickled to see that he chose one of my favourite pictures of him & my puppy as his header.

Oh, and I had a really weird dream (but what dreams aren't, really?). Heather, I dreamt that, through hints and clues dropped throughout your blog that I finally realized what religion you were - Mormon. (And, yeah, I heard that "WHAT?" that just came out of your mouth. Don't ask me why I dreamt it when I know its not even remotely true. I can't control how my subconscious works! Wait a minute, do they even have Mormonism in NZ and Aus?)

Hmmm, considering all I ate yesterday was a mug of coffee, 1.5 waffles, half a jar of jellybellys and a toasted bagel with butter over a 14 hour period, I think I'm off to rustle up some grub. Byes!

Thought it was a time for a bright and cheery spring-like layout! Not too sure yet on the purple font...I think it'll need time to grow on me. Ah, there, green is a much better choice, I think.

The picture is of our Parliament's Peace Tower and the tulips (festival may 4-17) that bloom everywhere in the capital come spring. Isn't it pretty? I've decided to only have my header pictures of scenes from around my city, because it's so incredibly gorgeous and, well, goshdarnit, I love living here. The picture before this one was of the new pedestrian bridge over the Canal.

Happy Easter Everyone!

*happy grin!*

I got my jellybeans!
(Aren't I spoiled?)

and it's 6 months today. I can't believe I made it with someone to half a year - last time that happened I was 16 people! Couldn't have asked for a better person to make it to that milestone with, really.
(Mr. Random -
Just wanted to let you know - I adore you.
and thank you for surprising me with the DVD Enchanted. What a cute, cute story.

You rock.

Heather's meme.

Music style/song? Lately I've been liking Avril Lavinge, Rent Soundtrack, Backstreet Boys, Barenaked Ladies and Reba McEntire....and some new techno that Skittles downloaded on my computer (DJ Hixxy, Scooter, DJ Eadsy).
To eat? Not hungry....well, maybe some frozen toaster waffles later.
To drink? I just fixed myself a big mug of sugary coffee.
Going out to? It's gonna be a lazy day of slothing around home today.
Watching? I'm watching a free episode on my computer of XENA: Warrior Princess - Season 3 Episode 2 : Been There Done That. And last night we watched Enchanted because K.02 bought it for me, the sweetheart!
Doing? This meme, watching XENA and smoking.
Buying? Nothing, I'm flat broke.
Reading? I just finished The Brethen by John Grisham ... SO incredibly BORING and doesn't even have a freaking POINT!!! UGH, I hate wasting more brain cells than I have to and this book was defnitely one of those situations!!
Schoolwise, I need to do all my discussion board topics for my 20th century Canadian Lit class by the end of the weekend. I also have to have the following short stories read for April 11th - "Simple Recipes" by Madeline Thien, "Traplines" by Eden Robinson and "The Second Strongest Man" by David Bezmozgis. And I'm pretty sure I'll be re-reading The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood by Friday of this week as I have a term paper due on it.
Making? Breakfast in a bit.
Thinking? I'm thinking three things - a) where the hell are my slippers, because this floor is FREEZING. b) I wish I were sleepy enough to be curled up beside my (loudly snoring) sweetheart. c) I'm seriously craving some Easter candy right about now, especially jellybeans!

I like making lists. Lots and lots of lists for any series of tasks (*ahem ahem cleaning*) I might have to do. I like to accomplish those tasks on the list, see them getting crossed out one by one (strikeout is my favourite font emphasis thingy).

I also like to plan. I like to get things all lined up in a row; fulfill various aspects of the event. And the more things on the go, the better. I get such a feeling of accomplishment when each thing is achieved, piece by piece, and there's really no greater feeling (for me, at least) than when it all comes together and goes exactly how I wanted it to.

I'm naturally - and I know this might come as a shock to some of you - a go-getter. Granted, these last few years I haven't quite been up to form, but suffering from undiagnosed chronic depression tends to do that to a person. I always have a plan for when things are rough, I access my resources when faced with a problem, and I never stop working until my goal is achieved.

Problem was, these last few years - I wasn't interested. I wasn't motivated to do anything. It had all become a big long horrible drag that required a Herculean effort on my part to even accomplish one fifth of what I knew I was normally capable of. So, I just didn't. I avoided the world by sleeping excessively. I shut out friends, family; I was often irrationally angry and defensive about nothing at all.

I saw life as one big gray oppressive tunnel, with no end in sight. Every single day was a drag; I wasn't sucidial, but life had lost all joy, all light.

But with this medication I'm on now I can feel myself ever so slowly become interested in all the mundane tasks of life again; I can feel that old feeling of accomplishment coming back. And, best of all, I'm motivated to get things accomplished.

And that, my dears, is the best feeling of all.

Burning the Midnight Oil

Geesh, I have got to stop leaving my freaking assignments until the last day. However, being able to pull off something like this (it's worth 20% of final mark) in less than 12 hours kinda makes me feel good, lack of sleep notwithstanding. Is that bad? Probably eh?

This one was for Wills & Estates, Part II - where the guy you JUST designed a will and prepared his Estate dies (gee, thanks buddy) and you have to disperse his Estate and so on and so forth. It's divided into 3 categories - 6 precedent letters, 5 forms and 3 documents you have to re-produce by hand. All I have to do is the big monster of a document called the Estate Administration Checklist. It's SEVEN PAGES LONG!

Did you know your law firm does everything for you, right down to cancelling your subscriptions and memberships and arranges to get your locks changed on your house? And calculating the Probate Tax on the Estate is a &$@% to do - the formula here is 5$/1,000 for the first 50,000 and 15$/1,000 for the remainder of the value of the Estate. My Estate came out to 1,585,875 (ohmygosh, if only I were that rich when I croak!!) meaning the fictional client paid twenty two thousand two hundred and eighty-eight dollars and seventeen cents in taxes alone!!

Dying, apparently, is bloody expensive!!

March 17th!

Happy St. Patricks Day!!!!

(no, really, I am. So pucker up already) ;-)

Conversation in which I speak up and be assertive, or, telling her where she can stick it.

I finally did it! All throughout our roommate/friendmanship, she would occasionally refer to something being "that's so gay" .... I finally spoke up about how I don't like that expression today :) Gooooooo me!

Exroommate: i just wish the car wouldnt be so
Me: mmm, considering cars don't have a sexuality, I think 'being gay" would be hard to do
Exroommate: lol u know what i meant
Me: and i don't like when you use it in that context
Exroommate: sorry
Me: thanks
Exroommate: guess ur just different form me and my friends than...
Me: *shrug* i was taught that it wasn't acceptable to use the term gay in a derogatory way
Exroommate: k.
And now she's not talking to me. HA.

Silly Fun

I just spent FAR too much time fooling around with this:

What can I say, it provided a solid hour of procrastination, lol.

PS: I think I like the copper colour more - your thoughts?

PPS: The important thing to note about the bridesmaid dresses is the length and the ivory ribbon. Other than that, I'd rather they choose whatever style top they're most comfortable in. And yes, Skittles is my maid of honour :P

PPPS: Whatever colour I decide for the bridesmaid dresses will be the colour of Skittles' vest & tie & also the colour of my sash. :)

Snow (take II)

That's not a mountain or anything guys, that's just a huge man-made pile of snow. Basically, that's (one) of the places the snow was dumped from clearing it from other places (like roads, parking lots, sidewalks etc etc.) It wasn't there before the huge snowstorm the week before that dumped 57cm (for you US folks, thats 1.8ft) on us.

Crazy eh?

PS: that's the park we take Molly to, incidentially.

Music Meme

Here is how it works: You go to Pop Culture Madness scroll down a bit to where it lists the decades of Billboard hits. Click on the one you turned 18 in, and then scroll down again to the year you turned 18. Copy and paste the list of 75 songs into notepad so it will get rid of the chart formatting, then copy and paste again into your post. You will bold the ones you liked; strike the ones that made you want to barf (or just hated) italicize the ones you knew but didn't give much thought to, didn't like or dislike them; and leave the ones you didn't know in the original text.

What's yours look like?

*ha! I'm listening to it right now.

Random 4am thoughts.

Watching two cats, uh, mating, is kinda gross.
Especially when its an Oedipus situation.

Thankfully, it seems that my precious kitty
isn't interested in becoming a daddy.

Molly is a cute little puppy, especially when she's curled up asleep.
Yes. Focus on the puppy.

A plea

Dear Brain:

Please send the necessary signals to my body to let it know its tired and let me go to bed. I actually have stuff to do tomorrow that requires your professional capacity. Why do you do this to me? Do you just like the drugs I (really try not to) feed you in a desperate attempt to get some sleep? If the latter is the case, I recommend checking into a rehab center somewhere. I'm sorry to have resorted to such drastic measures, but my god dear! you are one stubborn brain to be in possession of.

Have I told you lately you're behaving like a 3 year old? Who insists he's "a bwig bwoy now mumma, dun need naps!" complete with foot stamping and crossed arms? Well, if I haven't, then consider this me telling you. And as much as you'd like to think otherwise, 3 year olds still need to sleep every day. AS DO YOU.

So, if you'll just fire those lovely chemical reactions that produces what I'm asking you by, oh lets say, 0400 hours, that would be swell.

Your Self.

-It's my brothers big THREE-ZERO today. Happy Birthday, you slightly-old-but-still-totally-cool-and-rocking-it brother of mine!! :-)
-Oh! And Skittles got a full-time (I think I may have neglected to tell you he dropped out of school earlier this month?) job today. I'm happy for him, but also sad that I'm losing my personal chef and company in the evenings (he works 4-11 Mon-Thurs and either Sat or Sun).
-Found a kennel for Molly - that is, IF they take dogs as young as she is....I'm hoping yes, because she really needs to go and the only other option is the pound. *insert crying here* ... as for affording it, Skittles, K.02 and another friend are helping out with the cost, as well as I have a bit of money saved. I love my friends. She leaves on Monday if everything is kosher.
-There was another thing but my feet are so numb with cold (it's currently -22 outside and I have a window that's frozen open) that I really can't think of anything else. So....there's to attempt number 5652 to get some sleep tonight *roll eyes*

This just in....

Tonight was K.02's last regular season game for his hockey league (he's a goalie). I just checked his league's website to see if the recap & stats were up yet, and GUESS WHAT?!?

K.02's team is now first place in the entire league!! And K.02 is personally the 2nd place goalie in the entire league as well!!!

So proud of him! Good job sweetie!

PS; Backstreet Boys "Backstreets Back" makes good dancing around music ;-)

Today was nice; it actually started yesterday though lol. K.02 came over at 9:30 (when he was supposed to get here at 8, I was getting worried lol). One thing I'm noticing is that I play a freaking load of board games lately - last night we played Monopoly with the three of us. I get bored so easily with long games like Risk & Monopoly so I usually just give up and lose first ... blame my ADD. *hee*

That finished at 2:30am and then K.02 and I kind of decided to stay up because we had to leave at 6am for his place anyways. I love that usually we're always touching in some way, whether it be with my legs draped over his lap or his hand on my thigh, or some other random position. I don't even think we realize we're doing it which makes it all the more special.

Went over to his place, dove into bed and stayed there until I left at 2:30. We even had lunch - Swiss Chalet, YUM! (I got to satisfy my apple pie craving I've had for over a week) - in bed. ;-)

Although the real purpose of this post is to get out some of all these questions and stuff swirling around in my head. K.02 keeps mentioning the fact that I'll be the 'mother of his children' (seriously, is that just a guy thing? I would have thought it was our children, not my? but I digress) .... so ... yeah. That's huge, right?

It means so many things - it means house. It means mortgage. It means good credit. It means drivers licenses and car leases and well paying jobs. It means (at least to us) wedding. It means me quitting smoking, it means better relationships with my family, it means not swearing as much, it means a huge shifting in priorities. And, down the road a bit, it means the ultimate choice of being a stay-at-home-mom or being a workforce one (that one's a doozy). It means, I guess, in short - growing up in a very, very major way.

And I'm scared and excited and a whole bunch of other feelings I can't even identify right now. Although, at this point, school has never seemed so unimportant, and yet, its absolutely crucial if I want to have the life I want to have - not only for me, but for my (future) husband and children too.

Then, there's the whole adjustment of "I-thought-I'd-be-30-and-still-single" thought process. Because, really truly, I did think that. So to go from that to "Oh-by-the-time-I'm-30-I'll-be-married-with-a-kid-or-two" is kinda shell-shocking. I'm sure I'll adjust as the months pass and I get more comfortable with the idea of it. I hope?

And the most fustrating part of all of this is that I can't describe how I'm feeling, not really. I'm sitting here trying to and its all so intangible I can't separate the strands of thought that are sticking to my mind like candy-cotton floss. It's so unbelievably fustrating. I'm not even sure if rambling on helped, lol. *sigh.
I'll figure it out. Eventually. Right?

Day in the life.....

Typical day in the life of Her & Skittles (when I don't have school):

8:00am: Snuggle with puppy and kitty (I caught elvis licking molly's ears yesterday, oh I so did) take meds, feed & take puppy out.

8:00-noon: Sleep. Get up, take meds, take puppy out, shower.

Noon-late afternoon: Eat randomly, check facebook, email and multiple blogs, chat on MSN, play endless games of spin the wheel (skittles wins most of them) and usually fit in a game of scrabulous. Also fit in some training sessions with puppy (we're teaching her to "stay" right now). Random aside: Skittles still maintains he isn't a fan of puppy at all, but its so totally obvious that he is. He really does love that creature; and I'm so glad he loves a challenge - training puppy is one he's embraced whole heartedly. *small woop*

Late afternoon: Do any errands (today included Skittles getting a shave and buying milk). Take puppy to a big snowy field and let her run madly off-leash for half an hour/45 min.

Early evening: Puppy sleeps, Skittles cooks dinner, I set the table, we eat a delicious simple meal at the table like civilized people (oh, its bliss. such bliss. why is it you don't realize how eating at an actual table makes you feel until you don't do it?). Today was cheese-stuffed baked chicken brushed with honey garlic sauce for me and chipolite sauce for him, with a side of mixed frozen garden veggies with a bit of spinach dip mixed in for flavour - SO yummy! Feed puppy as we eat. Alternate doing dishes and taking garbage out (today is Skittles turn).

Evening: chat on MSN to K.02, watch TV, take puppy out, read. In short: simple relaxation.

Bedtime: I try to get to bed by midnight if I have school the next day. because school means getting up at 6am instead of 8.

*deep contented sigh. Perfection.

PS: this is my 100th post! Can I get a prize?

Back on track...

yay! I'm connected! I'm connected! (albeit 74$ and a new router Man ALIVE, it felt good to be able to check all the blogs that I read saved in my favourites (at last count, it, 35? yikes).

There's really nothing else to tell. Weathers been awful, but everything else is good; living with Skittles is utterly blissful, I've seen K.02 three times this week (and maybe more to come?).... on Saturday we went out for dinner and then went to The Other Boleyn Girl (for a historical, pretty accurate, and I loved the mother's part, but did they really have to throw in that rape scene? Seriously?) and yesterday we met downtown and did a few things, one of which included getting my *gasp* engagement finger sized! lol. K.02 said I looked really excited while the guy was doing it *major blush* .... eeek. Then I treated him to a dinner out and he skipped his class and came back to my place and we just watched TV and cuddled on the couch (which also doubles as my bed, cha-ching!). So, at last count, I'm deep in major, life-changing love, I have food in my house (for 2 people!), transportation for the month, my bills are paid, my clothes are clean, my animals are safe, my taxes are filed, my prescriptions filled, and my mental head space is in such a better place than it has been for the last two months. And I was even able to save a bit of money for next month as well....=)

*sigh. Life is so, so, so good.

Attack of the giggles.

I discovered something today that nearly made me piss my pants with laughter - although it's slightly bad? lol.

It seems that Molly just adores stairs, and, since I have an 18ft retractable leash, I can stand at the bottom of the flight of stairs and just let her run up and down them!! LOL. Now when she's being all hyper, I can just snap on her leash and take her for a couple of runs up and down the building's stairwell. lol! Not that I would ever really do that, cuz thats just so super lazy on my part, but MAN alive, it makes me giggle.

PS: by the way, Molly's with me until Tuesday (if not longer? *crosses fingers*) because Skittles saw how upset I was and said she could stay here with us until then. Have I ever told you exactly how much I love that man?!
