There's no blood here.

I went to the doctors today to get some blood drawn - 6 vials of it. It was a fasting glucose test, among other things.

But it didn't really go as planned - she started fine, got a vial and a half of blood - and then .... my vein seized. Have you ever had this happen to you? It's so freaky! The needle is in but absolutely no blood is coming out. She rooted around for a bit - not gonna lie, that hurt, but nada, zip, nothing.

She gave me the option of trying the other arm or else my wrist/hand. After looking for a suitable vein for ten minutes, she finally conceeded defeat for the day. Told me to come back whenever I wanted and this time to be sure to drink lots of water just before the draw. So I have to go back early next week, fast again for 12 hours, and put up with having six vials of blood taken. Again. Grrr.

Anyway, in other news, every American should watch this. It's pretty neat:

I love this I love this I love this.

I also (bragging coming up) love the fact that I live in Canada, and that we legally support love, not gender. Ahh.
